Academic Links

With a renewed focus and strengthened academic links, Atom Valley is a chance to increase understanding, while meeting the needs of businesses through vocational expertise and industry-informed skills.

Uniting industry and education

Becoming the first technical education city

New devolution powers will allow for greater say at a regional level, putting more cash and more power in the hands of local leaders. In particular, this gives greater control over post-16 technical education, setting Greater Manchester on the path towards becoming the UK’s first technical education city-region.

Nurturing a workforce of the future

More oversight will be given to adult skills funding, while responsibility will be increased over developing and delivering careers advice. Together, this integrated approach will allow both industry and further education settings to collaboratively nurture a workforce of the future.

Equity and ease of access across all pathways will be at the centre for our vision of integrated technical education. This includes established partnerships with Bury, Hopwood Hall, Oldham and Rochdale Sixth Form colleges.
